I've experimented with web design since 1995, when I eagerly reserved a place
on the Geocities web site and filled it with hand-crafted HTML and pictures
created with Personal Paint on the Amiga. Having only a 14.4k modem in
those early days really emphasised the frustrations involved in downloading
self-indulgent pages with huge graphics and animation. I've therefore tried
to make my designs as clean and efficient as possible, without being dull.

I was responsible for the latest rewrite of the NHS Wales internet website. The site is written in ColdFusion and interfaces with NHS Wales' bespoke Content Management System. As all public sector websites are required to be accessible to all users, the templates in the new site are Bobby AAA compliant, with content currently being updated to match. |

I was very proud of the site I created for Taff
Housing Association, which was described as "excellent" by
the Chartermark committee following their successful reapplication.
The site was designed with simplicity in mind. Most of Taff's
tenants are on low incomes, so the site was designed to be
viewed with quite a low specification computer. |

craplyrics was
my first foray into writing php scripts. It's a bit rubbish,
but at least it works. The site
uses mySQL as a back-end database.

andrewgraham.co.uk has had a number of makeovers over the past
few years. This first attempt was a minimalist's
paradise. |
 |
The second (for which only example
graphics remain) was slightly more colourful. |

The third version was
much more durable and lasted four years. Using a series of stylised
chain links as a template, I created a custom logo for the site,
which eventually evolved into a complete typeface. Although the
bright colours seem a little brash now, I'm still quite fond
of the rotating Flash mastheads at the top left of the screen. |
